If you’re anything like me you’ve already started prepping exactly what you’re going to be taking on holiday with, in fact you’re probably having to really fight the urge to pack your suitcase, despite the fact you’re not even going away for another month. Being a male I personally don’t have the tendency to pack every single item known to man kind into my suitcase, every woman I’ve ever met? No so much. It’s really quite simple. Do not ‘what-if’ pack. Just don’t do it. ‘What if we get invited onto a millionaire’s yacht?! I’ll need that dress, and those heels, and that impossibly small clutch bag!’ No, no you wont. ‘Cause you wont be getting invited onto a yacht. This isn’t Gossip Girl and you don’t have a limitless luggage allowance.
So, here’s how it can be done. With minimal items. Here lies an entire days items. It really is all you’ll need, and what’s more – you can outfit repeat. You may think it’s a dirty idea, but trust me. Different accessories, different hair, and it’s all going to be fine. The world shall not end.
Throw on this jersey maxi from Oak over the top of your bikini for wandering around sandy beaches, grabbing some lunch, or lazing about, it’s perfect. Accessorize it with a brilliant beach bag, personally I’m in love with this Marni bag. It’s brilliant and it’ll be great as a summer shop bag once you’re back on English shores too. For all your suncreams, lotions, potions, make-up (and whatever else you feel you simply cannot survive a day without) into this little printed Pierre Hardy make-up bag, mostly because it’s just super cool and I love it. Shoe wise, be realistic here girls. When it’s boiling hot and you’ve possibly got yourself a little sunburnt you will not be wanting to wear a pair of killer heels. You just wont, you’ll try, you’ll fail, you’ll be angry, and us males shall have to put up with your grumpy face. Instead opt for a pair of chic flat sandals, like these from Kurt Geiger. They’ll keep you cool, they’ll be comfortable, and they’re going to go with everything (including your evening look. Nifty that isn’t it?) Sunglasses are a big decision, but remember – the classics are classics for a reason. Opt for a big, oversized pair for a bit of Liz Taylor chic. I personally think it’s best to stick with a cheaper pair, these Topshop ones will do nicely, and you wont be crying like a baby if someone happens to sit on them or you drop them.
When it comes to changing your look into evening, don’t go too overboard girls. Change the dress – this white Acne number is a thing of beauty, layered and with a little bit of slit to the side, it’ll be just what a warm evening on the Med needs. Keep your sandals on, no-one’s looking at them I assure you. Add a statement piece of jewellery like this Marni bracelet, and keep your bag simple with a little leather zip clutch from COS. You’ll use it forever more and it keeps all of the focus on the Acne dress you couldn’t afford but bought anyway. Ta-dah! Done. You are now that infinitely chic woman you always scowl at.
