The mood at this morning’s Clements Ribeiro show was one of calm and ease. Set against the backdrop of an industrial disused postal sorting office the antique paisley prints couldn’t help but bring a little bit of summer back to London.
Soft, loose fitting shirt dresses with multiple paisley prints started us off with what would be a subdued and pastel orientated colour palette. It feels fresh and goes well alongside the move into beautiful easy to wear pieces shows like The Row brought us from New York. The paisley print pyjama style pants and shorts are going to be perfect for next summer with something as simple as a white racer-back vest tucked into them.
The use of the prints here is, as always with Clements Ribeiro, what makes these pieces quite so special. The mixing of multiple paisleys, the subtle use of a more geometrically harsh prints against them and the sharply graphic colourblocked knits all work together exceptionally. There’s really pieces here to build your summer around – whether that be one of the printed vests, or those destined to be lived in printed pyjama pants. My money’s on the pyjama pants. I want you to buy the pyjama pants, can you tell?
Up close these pieces just get better, check out the back stage images below. There was almost a nice image of a pair of the amazing Charlotte Olympia wooden heels created for the show but a very stern glare told me that wasn’t the best idea I’d had.
