September 8th should already be marked in your diaries as the date of this year’s Vogue Fashion’s Night Out, but now you can also add a little note to check out the latest, and final collection from Jil Sander for the high street favourite Uniqlo.

It’s everything you’d expect from the mother of minimal; clean, sharp, classic. I used to have a bit of problem with clothes such as these to be honest, thinking for the most part they were pretty boring and made for rather drab outfits. That’s certainly not something I believe anymore. Maybe it was growing up and having to figure out what to wear for work each day without looking like a shabby student, but these clothes work – they’re the building blocks as it were to build looks around.

Fashion really has moved towards being much more put together lately and these sort of timeless pieces are perfect for that. Shirts that are just begging to be worn fully buttoned up, beautifully soft conservative roll necks and amazingly well cut coats. The only thing I’m going to completely and utterly condem are the puffa jackets. I just can’t even bring myself to try and understand why anyone would wish to look like a caterpillar in padded nylon. Why? It’s like some form of attack on my retina’s.

Within London the collection will be stocked at the Oxford Street and Westfield stores from 6pm onwards, and available nationally thanks to Uniqlo‘s site.
